Online gambling will harm your eyesight

The eyes are the most important organs that allow us to perceive the world. However, many factors can harm them. One of the biggest problem is online gambling.

Combination of online gambling innovation and smartphone usage is proving increasingly toxic. For millennials, betting via their mobile phones has become very popular choice. Have you ever thought about the physical effects gambling can have on your body? You may be surprised to know that while you’re sat hunched over your screens, not only are you doing damage to your wallet, but you’re also damaging your eyes, too. On average, those with a gambling addiction can place up to 90 bets a day, which can equate to quite a lot of screen time. Couple this with the average 3.5 hours watching TV, 4 hours staring at laptops, and 2 hours on mobile phones – your eyes are taking quite the beating! To help you ease your eyes of any extra strain, I’ve got three simple solutions. The eyes are the most important organs that allow us to perceive the world. However, many factors can harm them.

Reduce your screen time

Constantly focusing on screens can put an immense amount of strain on your eyes. Although our eyes are built to withstand day-to-day use, they weren’t made for aiding our gambling addictions! Reducing the amount of screen time you use a day could show massive improvements in your eye health and stop any headaches and migraines you might be having. This doesn’t mean you have to cut out your daily program or refrain from using your phone, just chose more wisely. If you can’t part with your precious screens, try starting with small 2-3 minute breaks every 20 minutes – this will also help you to ease back on your gambling, so it’s a double-win!

Blue light

While you sit and work away at your gambling addiction, the blue light from your screen is working away at your eyes. It’s been known that too much blue light can cause headaches, eye strain, and even retina diseases. If you want to keep your eyesight healthy, I suggest reducing the amount of blue light you use. This can be done by using special blue light glasses, which block the harsh blue light from reaching the eyes. You could also try altering your screen brighten setting to filter out the blue light – Apple devices can switch to Night Mode which swaps blue light for a much warmer color, thus reducing the amount of blue light our eyes are subjected to.

Put a stop to your gambling addiction

The best way to protect your eyes while gambling is to put a stop to it altogether. I know how difficult this can be, trust me, I’ve been there. The reality is you are capable and you can do it, you just need some extra help and motivation! The hours you spend both online gambling and sat at those slot machines are hours of unnecessary strain on your eyesight. Try to find ways to suppress your gambling urges and fill your time – group therapy and support groups can be great for this and will give you the person-to-person connection you miss when you gamble online. You also need to weigh out your options; would you rather fuel your gambling addiction or have a healthy set of eyes? I know which one I’ll be choosing!

Gambling ruined my life, and I was not the only one to suffer. There are hundreds of such people out there who have gone through the same trouble. My mission is to help them share their story so that they may get help in time.
